Thank you for taking the time to provide me with feedback following your recent stay here with us.

Dolphin House is not an air conditioned property and we do not advertise ourselves as such. We do have fans in all apartments, as you mention, and a stock of spare fans. I am sorry there was no second fan available during your stay and you should have been advised of this. Please accept my apologies that this did not happen.

We have a variety of guest rooms and apartments with a range of kitchen facilities from kitchenettes to full kitchens with ovens and washing machines. Unfortunately I cannot respond specifically to your comments above as I do not have your name or details of your booking to know which apartment you reserved. We are serviced apartments rather than a hotel so our amenities, such as toiletries and face cloths, may differ as such.

Thank you for your kind comments about the reception team. I will ensure these are passed on.

I'm sorry that on this occasion we did not meet your expectations.

Best wishes

Jo.

Rooms clean but soulless with no character and overpriced. Although bath robe was rather smelly.
The pool, sauna and steam room are nice, but the guy behind the gym desk is unfriendly and unhelpful.
Breakfast is small for the cost, and the service at breakfast is terrible. There is one lady with dark hair that seems to do all the work. The guy that works in the restaurant is like a zombie and doesn’t speak, and chooses to clear tables over actually serving people, so expect a Long wait. Another lady just stands behind the bar making takeaway drinks and having a drink herself or helping herself to the food, and doesn’t bother helping the others. The toast didn’t arrive one morning, and on another morning the table was not’t clean, and the third day the order was incorrect. Poor service and overpriced - the theme for the hotel.

We stayed at Dolphin Square, now known as Dolphin House, many many times in the 1980s and 90s and brought a number of friends there with us and we always loved it. We would book a one bedroom which included a pretty well-stocked kitchen in terms of dishes and utensils and these service apartments included the ability to cook in. Dolphin Square includes a terrific arcade with a grocery, a fresh produce stand, a drugstore that had liquor, chilled wine, cold drinks and snacks, a dry cleaners and a nice little luncheonette. We loved it because we didn’t have to eat out all the time so I didn’t hesitate to book this property again when we return to London in July 2019.

On their website you have a choice of a studio, or one bedroom, or a two bedroom. I chose the one bedroom because that’s what we always had. I was quoted a price on their website of £179. I booked it three months in advance so I could be sure it was available. When we arrived we ended up in a “studio”. I complained nonstop for several days and was told that I had booked a king room. I explained to the supervisor of reservations that I booked directly from their website and booked a one bedroom. I inquired what kind of bed it had and was told it had a king bed which I said was fine. I booked a one bedroom and I paid for a one bedroom and we ended up in the “studio”. No amount of me sending pictures of their website and pictures of my booking received any accommodation. When it was clear that they were not going to move us to a one bedroom I insisted, to no avail, that our room rate be reduced price of the studio, which was £159, because we were not able to cook in our room forcing us to eat out all the time. The studio does not come with a full equipped kitchen. It’s simply has a microwave and a half fridge with no stove. There was not’t even a chair to sit on except one little desk chair which is hardly sufficient for two people. If we wanted to relax in our room we forced to sit on our bed. so while I wanted to rave about this property because of our numerous stays at this convenient location, given what happened to us and hotel Mgmt. Refusal to make any adjustments, I regret that I no Longer would recommend this property.

We stayed here because we had only 2 days to see London and wanted to be near the sights. I was happy with this choice even though it was more expensive.

pros:

1. Location: Although expensive, the location and convenience can't be beat. The apartments are a 5 minutes walk to the Pimlico tube station and an 8 minutes minute walk (with suitcases in tow) to the central Victoria bus/train/tube station. On arrival and departure, we easily walked with our 15kg rolling suitcases to and from the station. The area was quiet and safe to walk, day and night.

2. Upgrade! Instead of the one-bedroom apt w/ king bed, we were given a free upgrade to a 2-bedroom apt - a very good deal for downtown London, and better for 2 friends who travel together and aren’t a couple.

3. comfort:
The building was quiet and located across from a school with a soccer field. On Thursday night, adults were playing soccer there until around 9pm. Other than that, we never heard any neighbourhood sounds.

The 2-bedroom apartment was laid out as a Long rectangle with the 2 bedrooms at opposite ends. Each bedroom had adequate space around the bed, two end tables with a drawer, a flat-screen television sitting atop a small dresser, and a closet with some shelves/drawers and 5 or 6 hangers. There were two medium-sized windows that faced the street and could be opened (tilt) for fresh air. There were white sheen and near-blackout curtains.

Each bedroom had queen-sized beds that seemed slightly smaller than a queen, but bigger than full-sized bed. In any case, they were more than adequate for one person. The mattresses were medium firmness (not as hard as Central and south American beds, but not as soft as most us beds), comfortable enough, and had crisp white linen sheets, multiple pillows of varying softness, and a white comforter. I liked that there was a top sheet between the comforter and fitted sheet, which was oddly missing in all the other European apartments and hotels in which we stayed.

The living space in the middle had a fireplace (just for show), a small table and 2 chairs, and a sofa. There was a 3rd small flat-screen television in here as well. Very basic, but functional.

The bathroom shower had 2 heads – with strong pressure and hot water. The bathroom had a window for ventilation. I liked the peach shampoo and conditioner and lotion bottles provided each day. Bar soap is provided at the sink and liquid soap is provided for the shower. Towels were large, fluffy, and replaced each day (even though we hung them to reuse them).

The apartment clothes washer was convenient to have and worked well.
*Note: Detergent is not provided. There is no clothes dryer or line to hang clothes, so plan accordingly.

The apartment was clean and the maid service was good.

Check-in was easy and friendly. Check-out was fast and simple.

The apartment building has an elevator (lift).

cons:

1. Price: Expensive for the 1-bedroom, but a good deal for the 2-bedroom (since we were given a 2-bedroom for the same price). But London isn't cheap anywhere and if you want to be downtown and not in a run-down hotel or tiny hostel, Dolphin House is a good deal.

*Note: If you are a single traveller or a couple who can share a full-sized bed, there are many apartments in London and other cities in Europe. If you are not a couple, you will be hard-pressed to find queen or king-sized beds, let alone separate beds, so this was an important factor in our decision to stay here.

*Keep in mind - I booked this 4 months in advance for the 2nd week of June, which is still cheaper than prime tourist season which begins in July when European kids are out of school.

*Be advised: Most European hotels & apartments charge your credit card up front at the time of booking (despite the claim \

We spent a week in London and the location of Dolphin Square is perfect. The Pimlico tube station was a five minute walk. The Thames River is right there. We never had a problem getting anywhere we needed to go from this location. The room was great. Spacious enough. We would have an English breakfast in the little restaurant every morning. They told us that we had a garden of you. But there absolutely was no view of a garden. The only view we had was a view of a roof. It would’ve been nice since we came from California to have a nice view of something. All in all it was not’t the end of the world because we didn’t spend that much time in our room. We were out exploring the great city of London.

Great location near subway stop and many London attractions. Quiet neighbourhood. Great amenities (indoor pool & fitness centre). Breakfast was outstanding- food & service. Also a good value. Only concern was security- doors to building left unlocked at night allowing public access to the hallway outside our room.

My wife and I stayed here five nights in late June. Although there is no air conditioning, fans were adequate during our stay. The apartments were spotless and the king beds very comfortable. The pool is really an exercise pool, with swimming lanes and instructions often on-going. The breakfast was excellent and the view overlooks the pool, which is a nice touch. Getting around London efficiently is all about the Underground. The Pimlico station is about a 5 to 7 minute walk around the block. One can get anywhere in town from there. Thank you for the wonderful London memories.

Thank you also for giving us the room so early after a transatlantic early arrival. The arrangements were made through British airways, flawlessly.

Theresa & John
.

We stayed at the Dolphin Apartments for nine nights in a double bed apartment in June 2019. The room and facilities are good - the only down side was that we requested an in-apartment washing machine when we booked months ago but alas, one was not available - a little disappointing, but we did use the complimentary machine in the basement. The room was cleaned every day and free towels were provided. Dh is not far from Pimlico tube station and the pubs/shops/cafes in Pimlico. The No 24 bus is nearby and takes you in to the heart of the West End. We will use dh again.

While the location isn’t central, it’s accessibility to the London Underground is nearby. The rooms are spacious and homey, though a little bare on the amenities side. The breakfast is decent, with numerous options available. The wait staff there are great. I wish I could say the same about the reception staff - not the warmest reception for myself, not others I saw check in.

We had booked this hotel with the understanding that it was a four star property. You can imagine my surprise to get there and find out they have no air-conditioning. No joke. The room was sweltering all night Long making it impossible to sleep. They did have a fan in the room, but that is something I would expect from a two star hotel, not a four star property.

When we checked in, I ask them about the laundry facilities they were supposed to have. The gentleman at the front desk told me that they were free for guests and down in the basement. Wonderful!

We got our laundry, went down to the basement and follow the signs for the laundromat. I’m not joking when I say it’s about a quarter-mile walk to the laundry facilities. When we got there, there were washer and dryer‘s but they were 5 pounds. Are used the phone on the wall to call the front desk and they said that we were in the wrong laundry mat.?

They said that we had to go down to a room number and that’s where the free laundry facilities were. Hmmmm. Do you think about something that should have been mentioned when I asked about the laundry facilities when checking in?

so we took her laundry, walked all the way back, and found this room. Interestingly enough, it is marked laundry with a sharpie marker next to the room number. How on earth is any guest supposed to find this! ?

Either they should give guests a printout with the location of this room or have signs up directing guests but under no circumstances should we have been spending our time on holiday trying to figure out where this laundry room is.

We were able to wash her clothes, however when it came time to dry them, I put them in the dryer, pushed start and left for half an hour. When I came back, the dryer had not been working. Apparently it turned on and then turned off so the clothes had not dried it all.

Great, I found another dryer put them in there came back in half an hour later and that one too was broken. The clothes were about 400° so it was something to do with the heat but it was not drying them. There was literally steam coming off my clothes They were so hot but not drying.

We went to the restaurant to get Takeaway, but they said they only offered seated dinner. Not sure why they are refusing business, but we ended up using delivery instead

The gym facilities are nice. At least they were able to figure out how to use air conditioning. They had a decent selection of cardio equipment, but unfortunately a lot of the weight appointment was tied up with the usual crowd standing around talking, not using the weights.

Overall, we would not stay here again. This is a two star hotel at best.

We stayed at this location for eight days while recently in London, May 2019. Our immediate reaction to this place was not good. The two people at the front desk weren't too friendly or helpful. This was an ongoing theme our entire stay, the front desk was not very friendly or helpful. My wife called and asked if they had laundry and they said yes and it was free. She asked where it was and they said the basement. We gathered our clothes and proceeded to go to the basement. We followed the signs to the 'launderette'. Once there, we found out that it was not free and actually was very expensive. They had no change machine and we didn't have any change, so I made the very Long walk back to the front desk and asked them for change. I told them the story and they said they didn't have any. They said to try the bar, which I did and they didn't have any change to spare. They directed me to the arcade which didn't have any change to spare. I ended up walking back to the tube and found two businesses that gave me ten pounds each, then made my way all the way back to the launderette. We ended up spending thirty pounds while there. When we checked out, I told the gal at the counter about that. She said that we went to the wrong place to do laundry. I told her we followed the signs and I had come back up and told the gentleman about our issues the first night and he never said anything about two places. All she said was sorry, with no attempt to reimburse us. The room itself was okay. The bathroom had no fan and the window barely opened so the steam would build up and make the room hotter. The room had no air conditioning. The water there was the hottest I've ever seen. Very dangerous. You could turn the handle a cm and it could burn you. All this would need is an adjustment. The bed was pretty comfortable and the location to the tube was close. There was a playground across the steer, so you constantly heard kids playing, which if you're not there wouldn't bother you. We wouldn't stay there again, mainly because of the poor customer service. When we would come back at night, the people at the desk basically ignored you. If we would have been reimbursed for the laundry and they would have had friendly staff at the front counter, I would give them a four out of five.

Very nice 3 bedrooms with kitchenette and central meeting room, private bathroom inside each bedroom area. Quite clean and spacious by European standards. The staff was friendly and professional, nice attached restaurant and indoor swimming pool plus health club type amenities (steam and sauna). Safe feeling central London location was easy for us to navigate tourist plans. Pretty expensive, but hey it’s London.
