My wife and I stayed at the hotel for about 5 days in all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is awesome. The hotel is on a quiet street very close to the Gloucester Street Underground. Restaurants and museums are within easy walking distance. Although some of the furniture in the room was a bit worn, the room was very clean and the bathroom was modern. Unlike some other hotels in London, there was no problem with hot water or water pressure. The bed was very comfortable, too. Because we had to leave early in the morning on our last day in London, the staff went out of their way to provided us with breakfast in the lounge at 5:30 a. M. (they also made sure that a taxi was available for us, so we could get to the airport on time). Our continental breakfasts were good, and included cereals, meats, cheeses, yogurt, breads, danishes, juices, coffee, and tea. There was also a tea and coffee maker in our room, complete with coffee, tea, sugar, milk, and delicious biscuits. \n\nI would recommend this hotel to Americans visiting London.

Having stayed at several other hotels of this brand, but first time at this one, the Grange Strathmore hotel also delivers the very good quaility that you are used to when choosing Grange hotels! \nGreat nice, classy London location (residential area but touristic at the same time), friendly welcoming staff and a no-nonsense atmosphere that helps to relax. Good quality of the breakfast and - not in the least - very clean rooms and hotel areas! Nice typical hotel bar too. \nBeing an older, historical building (with a royal past it seems) gives you the great advantage of staying within a typical British residential atmosphere that you could never find or experience in a new modern built hotel. On the other hand the large doors are a bit noisy and rooms rather on the small side - but that said there is a selection of smaller and larger rooms.

Stayed there for two days for business. Found the bed, breakfast and location good. The staff and the general condition of the hotel has room for improvement. Not all staff speak English and coordination seemed hard - they were nice and polite.

Always try and stay at the Grange Strathmore when I come to London. It's situated in a lovely building in a peaceful area; just a 2 minute walk to the Gloucester Rd tube station with direct access to Piccadilly and circular lines and about 8 minutes walk from Kensington Palace and the beautiful park. It's a lovely spacious hotel with a pleasant lounge bar and dining room on the ground floor. Check in was quick and efficient, we arrived early and only had a short 5 minutes wait for our room to be ready. I've always stayed on the first or second floor in one of the family rooms which is perfect for my family. Lovely comfortable beds in our room with a Super King size and singles, plenty of room for all of us and very clean bedding and room. Bathrooms are small as other reviewers have mentioned (but who spends all weekend in there when you go to London?), however, good hot and powerful showers, toiletries and clean towels plentiful. We could control the heating on our radiator thermostat and also had 2 windows we could open if required. Breakfast is quite formal but in a good way as all staff are extremely efficient and keep the breakfast room spotless and the 'help yourself area' extremely clean, tidy and topped up. Theres an extensive array of fruits and continental breakfast with the option of a full English and porridge etc with allergies catered for. Very happy with this hotel and would return.

On a positive note, the Strathmore is in a good location within walking distance to shops, restaurants and Gloucester Road tube station. The room rate was also competitive for London.\nThere is a \u2018but\u2019 unfortunately. The hotel lacks a welcoming atmosphere, it is tired and that is the general feeling you get around the place. We stayed Friday to Monday and the telly was only available from Sunday night, we were offered a cooked breakfast as way of an apology.

Our room was very small and cramped, but facilities were good in the room. A comfortable bed, television, thick curtains, smart compact bathroom etc. A complimentary continental breakfast was really quite tasty, so generally it was a good place to stay, given the location and the wide range of local facilities that can be enjoyed from the hotel.\n\nThe fire alarm went off as we went to bed! Obviously we got up and went with many other guests to evacuate the hotel. At the bottom of 2 flights of stairs we got to the main entrance to find other half dressed guests and no staff at all to explain, take charge or lead. After about 5 minutes a waiter walked by carrying food! He had no knowledge of the fire, the alarm or anything! so, we the guests, were just left there for a further 5 minutes before another staff member came and said that he thought it was a false alarm! \n\nWould you feel confident and safe with such ineffective leadership and management??

I stayed one night. Hotel is a beautiful and well kept. Since it was not built to be a hotel, room is quite small and shower is also small. But I enjoyed looking at beautiful interiors and ceilings of the estate. \n\nHotel staff are very friendly and attentive. \nBreakfast was basic but you will enjoy the view and the room.

Once the home of the Earl of Strathmore (father to the Queen Mother) this large Victorian house is located in a quiet, affluent area with good public transport links and within easy walking distance of the Natural History, V & A and Science Museums, the Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Palace and Kensington High Street. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, and all staff were friendly throughout our stay. Our Executive Double room was spacious and included a 'living area' with a sofa and coffee table. Toiletries were nice and we made use of the robes and slippers. We enjoyed the breakfast which offered plenty of choice. The hotel lounge bar is very comfortable and relaxed and bar prices are fair. There are also quite a few nice bars and restaurants nearby.

We chose this hotel based on the location and it sits nestled amongst the most exquisite buildings, in walking distance to the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Gardens. The downstairs of the hotel is lovely, a very relaxing and comfortable bar area, which feels opulent.

Stayed one night and location for museums is excellent but the hotel is so drab and dreary. Very clean, polite, friendly staff and a comfortable bed. It seemed dark and badly lit in all the corridors. Continental breakfast is£18 per person. We didn't bother as.

Located in one of the lovely Georgian buildings in Kensington, this hotel is convenient for central London, and a direct tube line to Heathrow. My bedroom was on the top floor and was well appointed, quite modern, with windows that open onto a Dickensian view.
