Wouldn\u2019t stay here again\nStaff abrasive and rude \nHotel room too hot. Even with window and fan \nBed awful. Mattress cheap thin and bumpy \nNo batteries in television remote - no phone to contact reception for some \nFood ok in restaurant and reasonable prices. Meat very fatty though \nBeer garden intolerable as swarmed with wasps. Tables not cleared at all in 2 hours. Wasps circling half eaten meals on plates and beer glasses \nThankfully only here for one night. Never again.

We had dinner with friends on 6th July.\nThe waitress told us about the Saturday steak special which we ordered. \nMy husband changed his steak knife twice and then realised it was the steak! Tough, grisley and unchewable. 10 chips, 2 onion rings and half a tomato! \nWe would have got a better meal in Wetherspoons. \nWe got a refund, no apology and no offer of a complimentary dessert considering the meal was so bad.\nWhats happened here it used to be lovely, its so disappointing I don't think we'll be returning or recommending this place anytime son. \nI did email the restaurant but got no reply. What a shame.\n.

Such a nice looking hotel from the outside in a nice area which really should be getting 5 star ratings. It\u2019s quite obvious why it\u2019s not. The first thing we noticed were people hanging around with no tops on smoking, drinking cans of Stella and staring at everyone. As luck would have it they were \u201Cliving\u201D 2 doors down from the room I stayed in a corridor that smelt like a brewery, they were using their dirty clothes to wedge their door open so their mates could come in and out at will. It seems like they are using the Green Man as some sort of hostel/social housing. I woke up to 4 policemen outside my door and the occupants seemingly evicted and the room in a sorry state. This was only half the reason for the poor review, the other reasons were for awful customer service and an unhygienic room. I stood at the restaurant until for 10 minutes waiting to order food, 1 person came for a few seconds and it seemed obvious she was not\u2019t going to ask if I wanted to order something so I asked her if I could, she did more than ignore me, she took the menu I was reading, mumbled sorry and disappeared. I had my dinner in the village centre then came back tried to order a coke at the other bar and waited again for another 5 minutes, was not\u2019t even acknowledged so I left again. Finally the cold tap in my bathroom had mould hanging from it so I couldn\u2019t even get a drink of water. One of the worst places I\u2019ve ever stayed, avoid at all costs.

Positives first : pub is nice. Staff are friendly. \n\nNegatives: on trying to enter the separate accommodation block we were confronted by two ladies, one in a wheel chair, one unable to move without her mate in the wheelchair pulling her up. They were stuck in the doorway trying to move out of the way whilst moving. They looked mashed, but fair play to them, having fun. We eventually got to our room and found the carpet was not vacuumed, and the bed looked like on one side that a hippo had slept in it for a few months. No shower gel. \nWent downstairs for some beers and to ask for shower gel and an ironing board/iron. \nWalked past mashed ladies dealing. Reckon they were put up by the council as they didn't look like your usual wedding/weekend guests. \nlady behind reception said that within the hour we were gonna spend in the pub the iron would arrive. Arrived back (past the druggies) and no iron. Had to walk back down (past the druggies) to ask for it again. It then arrived. \nSlept fairly well. Gave the mrs the hippo side. \nBreakfast was run by one poor lady by herself (didn't have to step over any druggies at this point, so all good). She was nice but over worked/under paid/ not supported so she couldn't keep up with demand. The buffet was a mess. Hot food fine. \nOverall, it's ok. When you go for a wedding you only spend a few hours in the place. I wouldn't recommend for anything else though.

We wouild like to thank all the staft for very good and helpful service, thanks to Carlos, Kayleigh, sophie and Sam in the reasurant and bar Also we must not forget the cleaning staft in the hotel they did a very good job.

The accommodation is very run down and in need of updating.\nThe showers have a feeble flow of water.\nThe walls in one room we had appeared to have wine stains on them from previous guests.\nThe first floor corridor outside another room had obviously had a water leak and the wall paper was peeling off the wall.\nThere was a musty damp smell in a ground floor room.\nBut probably the final reason I won't be staying here again is the extremely unhelpful staff on reception.\nYou only get one key to a room and when a second was requested the answer was 'No, we don't have one'. The only suggestion from the receptionist for two of us getting back at different times was 'leave your key with reception'. That's great but how do I get into the room when my key is in reception ? No intelligent answer was given.\nAlso for some reason they have stickers on the wall in the bathroom saying 'the bath gets slippery when wet, please ask at reception if you want a non-slip mat'. That's really helpful when you are about to get into the shower.\nWe did request a mat from reception and was told one would be sent to the room. No mat was sent. We queried this the next day and the receptionist said 'Oh, I forgot'.

I was not\u2019t sure about eating here having heard mixed reviews from locals. In fact, I didn\u2019t know until I arrived that the pub is part of a chain.\nDespite being totally overwhelmed by the three menus I was handed, I managed to make a simple choice of fish and chips which was pretty good. Crispy batter but disappointing chips. Other food options served to our table, pie, chorizo chicken, looked ok but nothing special. On the whole, this was average pub fare and reasonable at that. No huge disappointment but nothing really amazing either.\nOn the plus side the staff were really nice, chatty and friendly and this does set the Green Man apart from other places in my opinion.

The room was very tired and very dirty, it took 15 minutes to get the shower to work as the handle had been broken off leaving me to try and pull on a little thread on the top of the tap. Breakfast was a shambles! we were the only people in the room so they was not under pressure. Both breakfasts turned up swimming in oil and on closer inspection I had a grey like scummy substance on my plate and poached egg was broken with a piece of bacon being placed trying to hide it. The breakfast went back to the kitchen to be replaced, but this time with a fried egg. The breakfast returned still swimming in oil on the same dirty plate! It seemed like the staff couldn't care a less and didn't want to be there.

Stopped for a quick lunch truly shocking food couldn\u2019t quite believe how bad it was.colleague ordered food then was told they had run out salad without any apology just a plate of chips and a frazzled chicken breast Avoid and stop elsewhere.

Being a big family we find it hard for places to cater for us, but 8 people sat down in a matter of seconds, and with 6 fussy kids eating this didn\u2019t seem to be a problem for the chef. Restaurant and bar staff were great fun. We all had a genuinely lovely experience. Bought time somewhere in Harlow catered for the larger group that didn\u2019t charge the earth. Very happy will be returning!

Chose this venue to host my works 20th year service anniversary. Glad I did too. 10 mains and 10 deserts and not a single complaint about any of the food. Venue was lovely with a nice atmosphere, great staff and great choice of food at a very reasonable price. Would deffo recommend this venue to eat and drink.

Had a lovely evening at the pub, very good atmosphere and bar staff are very friendly. Never had to wait too Long for drinks and bar area was very tidy. Great selection of drinks and reasonably priced. Will go back for sure.

This used to be a perfectly decent chain hotel but it has been badly neglected by its owners. Our bedroom was ok but the bathroom was very tatty, with skirting coming away from the wall and a ventilation fan patched up with tape. The wc cistern filled with hot water (really) and the shower was scalding hot, so it's not as if they're trying to save money.\nThe food in the restaurant was average, whereas it used to be better than that.\nChef & Brewer should be ashamed of themselves for letting it get into this state.

We are a party of seven and regularly eat out particularly Sundays. We last went to the Green Man restaurant about two years ago and it was absolutely terrible so went elsewhere. We recently heard that there had been changed made at the restaurant do decided to give them another chance. Our lunches were really good, we had several different dishes from the comprehensive menu and everything was well done. I am so pleased the Green Man is back on form with new staff and obviously a new chef. Recommended, we will return.

Stayed for 1 night. Recetionist was new but very professional & extremely pleasant. Hotel room are in separate annexe to pub building. I was ground floor right at the end & the room was, well, a little sad. On face value, it was decent size, king size bed, desk, chairs, iron/board, hairdryer, tea/coffee, what you would expect really. \nBut, blob of mucus on bathroom wall, dirty marks inside shower, few cobwebs, poor lighting, some other marks on wall could not be compensated by the incredibly comfortable bed.\nAte in pub, food good for price, service slow but they were quite busy. Sat with menu for over 15 minutes. Waitresses cheery enough though.\nBreakfast dismal, no orange juice, only dregs of apple juice, dirty tables while waitress stood chatting at reception. Buffet table poor & cooked breakfast seened reheated. \nCorridors dingy & dated. \nAs part of Chef & Brewer & Greene King chain, I wouldve expected better. \nIn need of a bear hug more than just tender loving care & seems to want to be a Premier Inn when its grown up.

I stayed with my Fianc\u00E9, there, she died in October 2017 of liver cancer, and sepsis, but in May of 2017, we stayed there, the food was great! The service there was amazing, when you stay there, go for a walk around the area, walk through old Harlow town to a bike track that goes into Harlow park, this is a 10 minutes walk, this bike track is amazing! It's green everywhere! On the other side is the Greyhound pub great place! Visit the pet centre zoo in Harlow park! It's free! But leave a donation, then walk back to do Harlow, explore old Harlow, wonderful pubs, the main Harlow has many old buildings, a delight to walk by, around the corner from the Green man, is a small Park, this is in back of the Green man, your kids will love this! Or just you alone. It's my little corner of Harlow, so keep it clean! Families visit here, so watch it! The meals at Green man are reasonable, sit out back under the trees, kick back, enjoy! I'll be back.

We went there as B and B. No food serviced after 9pm\nIn the morning I asked for vegetarian breakfast \nWas told no vegetarian sausages but can have 2 eggs \nMy other family told no baked beans so went to the shop nearby and bought some for the chef to cook \nWe were later told managers had walked out not sure if this is true \nVery disappointing to say the least.

I think from my reviews I leave I like to try to find the positives in life, the Green Man is an exception \n\nUntil a year or so I along with a large group of the locals used to visit this establishment 4/5 times a week no one goes in this venue anymore due to the decline in management, staff, drinks available, service, food, cleanliness I could go on \n\nI recently decided to give the pub another chance after a while away, wish I hadn\u2019t bothered \n\nAs usual when you enter the bar area no staff to serve you you can regularly wait 10-15 minutes for a drink, the bar staff just tell you they are busy serving the restaurant as they are short staffed etc I see them out the back having a smoke more than they are focused on serving customers \n\nThere are more beers always off than on, lack of wine and always run out of crisps / snacks, I\u2019m not sure how difficult ordering these items are, doesn\u2019t seem to difficult to me ! \n\nThe food looks worse than it ever has, everyone just complains about it and the staff don\u2019t really care just send it back to the kitchen and apologise and refund no customer satisfaction at the green man \n\nWatching Tables being cleared are painful we watched staff walk past a table that needed to be cleared for over an hour in the end a customer who wanted the table started to clear it themselves \n\nI think you will get the picture where this pub is at, at the moment it used to be lovely \n\nIf I was the regional manager reading this I would be getting in the car and go to visit to see for myself and resolve all the issues from myself and all the other reviewers \n\nThanks.

The one good thing were the local staff. But is there any responsible management or are the managers deliberately prevented from making any improvements.\n\nOn a cold day the radiator was switched off and the room was cold. Turn it on and after an hour it began to start warming.\n\nShampoo, the fixed rubber bottle type was empty.\n\nIt has a kettle of sorts. But its too big to go under the taps.\n\nI went to turn on my room television at about 10:30pm. There was no hand set and not workable without it. I had to go to reception. Their first view was that don't have any. The receptionist was very helpful and looked into cupboards and drawers and eventually found a handset, but it didn't have any batteries. After more digging around she found batteries somewhere else. Eventually I could watch the television.\n\nBreakfast at 07:30. They had run out of beans.\n\nThere was some suggestion that the car park phones had some noise or crackling. This was second hand information - I had no need to use it. One good point was that the hotel parking was free with plenty of room.

Stayed for two nights bed and breakfast. Very good value for money. Large comfortable beds, good size rooms, just need a little updating. Nice fluffy white towels and plenty of hot water. Wonderful breakfast with a good choice of food continental and full English. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and it was very good. Would recommend the Green Man as a great place to stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 1 night and hate to be negative, but I am struggling to find any pros with regards to our room.\n\nThe room has all the basics you need and for 1 night it was ok. However it was in desperate need of some tender loving care. The carpet was very dated and looked dirty. The walls were covered in stains and damp marks. We had cobwebs in the corner of the rooms and lots of dust on the curtains and lamp shades Bathroom was clean but again needed updating, the toilet had rust marks in the bottom of the bowl. Bed was comfortable, but two singles put together. Bed sheets seemed clean but had a funny smell to them.\n\nThe restaurant on the other hand we liked and would recommend to others. We enjoyed a lovely roast dinner and dessert. The bar area is also nice. Food is reasonably priced and good value for money, a little expensive drinks wise (in our opinion).\n\nStaff were all lovely, both in the hotel and restaurant/bar. \n\nSadly we won't be returning to stay again but recommend the restaurant to anyone.

review: I found this hotel to be in need of a good clean. There was a lot of dust around and it looked like it had not been hoovered for a Long time. The bedding had a few cigarette burns and the room had a strong smell of smoke even though I had asked for a non-smoking room. I would not recommend this hotel and I would not stay again.

review: About as bad as it gets. Called for lunch. 45 minutes later no lunch.
Wide screen TV dominating bar.
10 minutes more to get money back.
