A good stay. A W Vision hotel- having stayed at the W Barcelona, I was really looking forward to the stay. Good communication with management as well. Really comfortable beds and pillows. Lovely room. Decent (but not a W hotel breakfast) food, good service. Clean and welcoming. A good choice.

quite surprised to find that instead of glasses in our room, we had plastic beakers. also instead of cups, cardboard paper coffee cups with wooden stirrers instead of a spoon.
Be aware that breakfast is £17.50. perhaps this is normal for London, but seems excessive to me. 5 years ago I stayed here and was very impressed - not so much now.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. When we checked in, we had a lot of luggage for our group. We were given our key to our room and told to go ahead, and our luggage would follow. We entered our room and it had not been cleaned the bed was stripped there was used cups and rubbish in the room. The staff were very apologetic, and we waited 1/2 hour in the room until a new room was given.

BREAKFAST if you want fried or poached eggs you have to order them. There was a Long wait my order for 2 poached eggs arrived after I had eaten..

We had breakfast on Saturday @10am there were no Cumberland sausages, we asked if there was going to be more cooked as breakfast finished at 11am, the response was \

Stayed one night with my daughter for Summer in the City convention. Had a twin room on 8th floor. First off, the staff were excellent. Every single one I met was helpful and polite, from reception staff, bar staff, room service etc. The hotel has a good feel with lots of light and modern spaces. Liked the pool table in the br, the fantastic wooden staircase in the lobby and the rooms were modern, exceptionally clean and spacious. It is right next to the Excel so perfect for a convention, because you do enough walking all day, it is nice not to have to travel far to get back to your bed! There is a really good area in reception where you can buy snacks, light breakfast etc, so great for kids with munchies, a quick lunch or breakfast on the go, and easier if you don't want the full sit down breakfast at the hotel. Bar was modern and nice vibe. Ordered room service pizza in the evening and they were absolutely delicious, the best room service food I would had. Would 100% come back here as first choice if I was attending Excel for anything, or even using London City Airport.

This is my third stay here and once again I was not disappointed. The room itself was comfortable and spacious and had a good view. The reception staff were friendly and efficient at check in and check out. The meal I had was delicious with generous portions. As ever I made good use of the splash pool which is a great feature of this hotel. I got this for great value for money too, cheaper than a budget hotel. I know I will be back!

Stayed one night at this hotel prior to our flight out of London City Airport. The beds are super comfortable and the room is very modern. The shower is big and overall a very clean room. The train platform is connected to the hotel and easy to get to downtown London. The airport in the morning was a quick uber over since we had the first flight out. We booked on Hotwire and got a great deal.

Clean, modern hotel with a pool, gym, restaurant and a bar. some rooms are with a river view. When the Excel has no events, it's a quiet place about 40 minutes from the centre. Docklands Light Railway is a 3 minutes walk away. Breakfast is OK, regular stuff, bu it does not change. There are small grocery shops and restaurants around (10-20 minutes walk). Service is very good, quite attentive.

We stayed at the Aloft while in London. The hotel was very nice and clean. Rooms have fridges and kettles. They are also a green hotel so if you hang a card on the door they will even give you a 5 pound card to use in the shop.
The hotel is right outside the tube/subway station or about a 20 pound uber ride into the city centre. If you don't mind the travel this is an excellent hotel.

I really enjoyed the hotel. It was attached to the London excel which made it very convenient for the conference. Very nice common areas and a couple of good bars.
Also very close to train airport and subway.

I booked this hotel to stay at the night before my birthday and from the minute I walked in I felt special. The receptionist was so accommodating and lovely ( I called her manager the next day to say how lovely she was). The room was lovely and I woke up very happy on my birthday morning. I can’t wait to stay here again.

We stayed here after booking through a break deal. The hotel was really close to the Docklands Light Railway stop so you didn't have far to walk. The room was clean and fresh and the hotel overall was great. However I would recommend you find somewhere else to eat. Firstly I ordered sweet potato fries and they came out burnt. We sent them back and got a new portion which was not much better. My partner got a chicken burger, took a bite into it and the chicken was raw! At £16.50 the food was overpriced so we were expecting something better.
Good hotel disappointed with the food. We complained to the hotel reception who said she would phone the manager but we didn't hear anything else after that.

Nice hotel, fairly new and clean. Right next door to the excel exhibition centre in the Docklands and Canary Wharf. A touch far from downtown London but do-able. Friendly staff and clean rooms, even a restaurant onsite. Not much nearby in terms of pubs and retaurants.

Everyone was excellent. Accommodating and friendly. Loved the access to the train. Room was standard Aloft, which is what I expected. Breakfast was wonderful. The only downside would be for those who don't want to trek from Heathrow. But we didn't mind. If you are going to city airport, it's extremely convenient.

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The reception was very helpful. Upon our arrival it was unusual hot in London and Christina (if I am not mistaken) offered us to take out of their small self service area a bottle of water. Great arrival experience. Rooms are well designed and at a good size. Small downsides.
Not really impressed about housekeeping service as on the second day we noticed they haven't cleaned the room well (carpet partially dirty, cups unwashed)
location of the hotel is as mentioned by other members a little bit outside the city but you can easily access it with public transport thus eating hotel lower bases on this criteria wouldn't be fair.
Next stay in London I would consider this hotel again.

I was reluctant to reserve a room five miles east of the London landmarks but this worked out perfectly. The subway or Underground is a minute from the door of the hotel and is very easy to get around on. The rooms are clean, new and comfortable. The staff were kind and helpful.

OK, so I stay at London excel most weeks. This and the localTravelodgeare the last to book up for a reason. Unfortunately, sometimes at short notice I end up staying here.

This hotel, despite really lovely rooms, appears to do everything in its power to put you off. This time and the time before it was room service.

If I am staying at a four star hotel with four star prices I expect a meal ordered to my room to be on a plate, with cutlery. Not slopped into a cardboard carton and dumped with me. See picture. Does this look like a twenty quid meal to you or does it look like something you'd pick up from an on-street takeaway of dubious hygiene at 2am?

Im sure I am going to get a management response saying that it's all to save the planet (arguable as the cardboard will simply go in the bin as its full of food waste) or (more likely) to reduce kitchen costs, but it's just shoddy and makes the place look and feel cheap. For the rest of this stay I'll be avoiding room service like the plague and possibly pop over to one of the dozen hotels in the area and eat with them. Plus obviously avoid booking with this hotel again, but sometimes I have such little notice from work I have to put up with the cheapness of what could - and should - be a lovely hotel. But isn't.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst attending a music festival at the O2. Absolutely perfect location - so easy getting to and from the O2. The room ( standard double) was very well set out- high quality furniture and fittings. Extremely clean. The shower was fantastic. Breakfast was well stocked, fresh and cooked well. It was a busy time for the hotel however they still kept standards high.
Didn’t get the chance to use the gym etc but maybe next time!

This hotel seems to be the only real ''full service'' propriety in the Excel area. They do indeed have a nice restaurant (very very friendly staff and the patio is relaxing during summer days). I also think that their pool is a very nice added feature!

Stayed at the Aloft hotel during comic con which was awesome and right next door.
Two things that I noticed that needed pointing out were
1) the toilet bin was full up
2) the sliding toilet door wouldn’t stay shut
Other than that it was a really good hotel (&bar :) friendly staff and good views out windows.

The hotel is beautiful!

However I found the staff a little too unprofessional for the stars and type of hotel. Breakfast was of poor quality too (considering the price).

I was annoyed that service charged was added to my room order without my permission and that the receptionist did not explained to me that I don't actually have to pay 75 on my card as deposit! This is ridiculous and unnecessary

The rooms were clean, bed great, not quiet enough.

It is however the best hotel I stayed close to Excel.

With all the hotels in London - this one is average, and recommend not to stay there unless you need to attend Excel! It’s just too far from central London, and inconvenient - plus you feel a little trapped as there’s nothing to do outside the hotel. As a matter of fact, the hotel is the happening place!

Again, stay here only if you are attending the Excel - In that case, it’s probably the best around - as the other hotels in the area look horrendous - everything is relative. And that’s why the four stars rating- as travellers looking there need to know it’s decent.

Although my title sums up this review please allow me to write a reason.

At a incredibly competitive price compared to other London Hotels, choosing to stay at the Aloft London Excel was a no brainer for both me and my girlfriend. We have stayed in London a couple times now and paid a lot more and over the odds for budget Hotels. Compared to the Aloft, I now feel robbed. Fantastic!

My girlfriend booked the hotel for a surprise for our 3 year anniversary as we were going to see Aladdin. The Hotel were made aware of this and much to my surprise when checking in I walked into a suite opposed to a room, with a Congratulations Note from the Manager (Denise), complimentary drinks and popcorn ect. I was gobsmacked at this gesture as it was completely un expected and un necessary however greatly greatly appreciated.

The Room was faultless from the views over the Excel, River Thames, to the cleanliness and facilities, security, comfiness and just felt genuinely like a 'proper' decent Hotel.

I didn't get the opportunity to use the Pool ect due to being surprised by the stay in general but it looked amazing, in the evening we had drinks at the wxyz bar and a few games of Pool (Free Pool Table).

Breakfast at the Docklands Restaurant was. Very filling. Buffet with great tasting food ranging from traditional full English to a lighter continental option with fresh Ham, Cheese, Cereals and fruits. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff.

The Staff I would also like to add were tremendously friendly, helpful, happy and professional. I genuinely appreciate when staff enjoy there work and have a clear passion for it by wanting to help as opposed to just getting it done because they have to kind of thing. so for this I thank you again.

Overall I think we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Aloft London Excel and extremely Thankful for our stay. I will highly recommend your establishment and will certainly visit again with a future London stay.

Thank you, Stephen and Chelsea.

First stay here, one night only and generally impressed. Rooms are comfortable, good beds, television decent size good decor and quiet.
Scrambled egg at breakfast was superb, best ever! Coffee however is awful and to be avoided at all costs; a choice of some quality coffee would have been nice. Three out of four coffee dispensers weren't even working!
Most definitely making this my default hotel for London, looking forward to returning next week.

Booked this hotel as part of a super break trip. Arrived at the hotel at checking on time and was told we would need to speak to the manager. When he eventually came to talk to us he told us that they had over booked and did not have a room for us and he would try to find us another hotel. I explained that we had chosen this hotel as we were going to the O2. He told us he was trying to book another hotel 4 miles away. We sat in reception watching other people check in with no problem. After about 45 minutes he came back and told us he could not find another hotel and mysteriously he had found us a room in the hotel. He offered to pay for our taxi to the O2 as an apology. The room was lovely and so was breakfast but the whole experience was upsetting and I would certainly not book this hotel again.

I previously wrote a review about how there were several small niggling things that brought the prestige of this hotel down. It's as if they read my review and changed every one of them. I've stayed here four times since that review in May 18 (as I said I would, but strangely they don't have my details) and seen huge improvement (last stayed there March 19. I am going back there shortly). The bar staff (and bar manager) were amazing on all occasions. They knew their drinks and how to serve them. so efficient and attentive even if you are not at the bar. We now prioritise this as the place to meet for drinks. Reception staff were also more aware, more efficient and I must say, really nice! I can't put my finger on it, but its no Longer a pain in the bum to check in. I've stayed at all the hotels around ExCel and currently this is our Priority Hotel and the first one we check for availability.

The hotel is lovely, the rooms are really nice. Unfortunately, I have to give it 1 star. I left my trainers and my top in the hotel room, less than 24 hrs after I checked out I came back. I also had a picture of a selfie where you can see the items in the cupboard behind me in the room. They told me the items did not come up in the lost and found, no one has seen the items and the cleaners or the manager who checked the room did not see them. I know I’m not crazy and I 100% left them there. I think it’s very unfortunate that one of their staff members either stole my items or threw them away. I had no reimbursement. And I am very disappointed, I will not be staying at this hotel again. The staff are untrustworthy, and for future reference don’t leave anything at this or any hotel at that!

Very nice hotel with helpful and friendly staff room was nice and clean and really comfortable bed. We picked this hotel for being near the 02. It was kind of near but about 4/5 miles away. We arrived by tube with the understanding that the tube station ( north Greenwich ) was the nearest tube station ( after reading reviews etc ) but it was not the hotel is the other side of the river. We got totally lost and took a while to find. The hotel is tucked away behind the conference centre. We found the quickest way to the 02 was to use the cable car ( about 15 minutes walk from hotel ). To get back from the 02 you have to use the tube and change to get onto the Docklands light railway. The last cable car leaves at 11pm so if you miss that it's the tube which after a concert can take some time breakfast was very nice but wouldn't stay at this hotel because of location and transport.

Needed a room that was relatively close to the O2 as I was attending a concert there. I chose the Aloft after reading the past reviews reviews on here and I’m glad to say that I made the right choice. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from Prince Regent Docklands Light Railway station and is clearly signposted by the side of the Excel centre.
On arrival I was given the option to make a preference in room location but as this was only a one night stay I was unfussed. I was allocated room 507 which met all of my needs. The in room amenities were great including the bottles water and the take-away style coffee cups. The room was a good size for me although might be a bit on the cosy side for more than one person. I didn’t use the restaurant/bar or leisure facilities so I can’t comment on them. All of the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly and I will definitely recommend the Aloft hotel to others.

We had a short stay here and it was great from start to finish. The reception was great, and got a personalized note welcoming me to the property! There was a complication with the room I reserved, but they handled it appropriately and gave drink coupons for the inconvenience. Very pretty location on the river, beautifully decorated. The room was well-appointed with usb and other outlets. Bathroom was nice, and spacious. Would definitely recommend for shorter or Longer stay.

I really liked this hotel. Lovely staff. Lovely large room. Breakfast was pretty good. It’s super handy for Excel. The bar is good, serving excellent cocktails. Room service took rather a Long time which was understandable as we all piled out of the conference and all ordered at the same time. When it did arrive, it came in takeaway boxes. However, I was impressed with everything else and felt it was good value for money. Water pressure was superb too!

If you have a little one, you know how priceless this is! We shall be coming back.

Stayed here for two nights for a recent convention at the Excel Centre. The beds were very comfortable with decent bed linens. The blinds were good quality black out and darkened the room extremely well. The decor is modern and pleasant. The location is excellent being a few steps to the Docklands Light Railway station and London Excel Centre. The only small issue that let the hotel down was cleanliness. While overall cleanliness was excellent, a few spots of mould in the shower was a bit off putting. I would stay here again though.

Big spacious room, very clean, modern and comfortable. Bed are comfortable for a great nights sleep. The hotel has a great bar, swimming pool and other amenities. Great choice at breakfast although you do get charged extra for a latte rather then a normal coffee.
This hotel is situated within the Excel area so a 2 minute walk into Excel itself. Easy to access on trains or via taxi. There is also a number of nice restaurants tapas, pizza, Chinese all just a short walk away.
