We stayed in an Executive Room, which for a London hotel was pleasantly spacious and well equipped. We really got a lovely surprise. The bed was large and comfortable and the furniture of high quality. Nice extra touches such as bottled water and kitkats in the room. There was also an iron/ironing board, safe and nespresso machine. Only issue was that you only get one espresso and one lungo pod per day which seems rather frugal. We asked for more but these never arrived.\n\nThe bathroom was again a lovely high quality finish and bright/well equipped.\n\nStaff were welcoming and very friendly, and the hotel had the feeling that it was well maintained and invested in.\n\nlike other reviewers have said, the surrounding area is rather run down and can feel rather intimidating late at night. The Docklands Light Railway/overground is however nearby and easy to access. Given the quality and better pricing than Holiday Inns in more popular areas, we would definitely stay here again.\n.

Two night stay earlier this week.\n\nUnder 6/7 minutes walk from/to Shadwell tube station on the Docklands Light Railway line.\n\nTemporary entry to reception due to refurbishment which has about 2 weeks or so to go.\n\nAll was explained at check in by Shafiul. No disturbance to sleep - thanks for being a platinum elite and exec room upgrade. Reception and bar/restaurant all in same place.\n\nRoom 325 was clean and tidy. No issue with hot water or WiFi. Nespresso machine was welcome! \n\nUsed the fitness room also. Limited with bike, treadmills and dumbbells but fine for what I needed.\n\nStandard breakfast but pleasant welcomes both days and wished well at check out.\n\nNo issues with work disturbances as promised.

Okay. so I will admit that 20 years ago when I started my career in business, I stayed many, many nights in a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express hotel. As I moved up in my career, the hotels got much nicer for business travel and I really worried about staying at a Holiday Inn because I remember them being very basic, especially in an area like Whitechapel! We were celebrating a special occasion in Paris and decided to fly into London and stay at the Rosewood for a night before the trip. Our flight got mixed up and we ended up getting into Heathrow at 10 p. M. When we originally anticipated arriving early the next morning. so we needed somewhere to stay for a few hours until we could check into The Rosewood.\n\nI used some leftover ihg points to stay here. As this Holiday Inn was the onlY ihg property available for a points stay in London proper. All other ihg properties were closed off for rewards stays and offered cash rates only for £300 +! (ihg is the worst loyalty program when it comes to using points. They say no blackout dates, but almost never have points-stay rooms available in major cities! Only paid stays.) Because we were getting in so late, I was not as concerned that Whitechapel does not exactly have a ton of stuff to do and booked here. so glad that we did because the service was so good.\n\nlet me just say, I was so surprised at how warm, sweet and accommodating the staff of this Holiday Inn was to us! The front desk agent was so incredibly nice and friendly when we checked in past midnight. I had contacted the hotel to let them know we would be arriving very late and not to give away our reservation after midnight. The person asked why we were travelling to London and I told them we were celebrating a special occasion in Paris and were doing a quick stop over in London. When we arrived, we were totally surprised that the hotel had a bottle of champagne, two chocolate bars and a Hallmark card waiting for us in the room! After a Long cross continental flight, you don't know how happy we were to have a few glasses of champagne and relax. Thank you to the front office for this surprise! it really made us feel welcome and valued.\n\nWhen we woke up, we discovered that Whitechapel is a very lively suburb. But pretty far outside London's metro area. We decided to take an early morning walk to the Tower Bridge and walked through some pretty funky but interesting areas. Whitechapel used to be the slums of London during Victorian times but gone are almost any historic indicator of the Victorian architecture of the time when Jack the Ripper used to stalk the streets of Whitechapel. Now, it is mostly Indian and Muslim residents, inexpensive clothing shops, vegetable stands and convenience stores. There are modern apartments and condos everywhere.\n\nThis is not an area where you'll want to do any sightseeing or nighttime drinking and it's not an area where a family will want to walk around after dark. However, if you are looking for something remotely close to the downtown London area, it's a £15 - 20 Uber ride to Mayfair and High Holborn/London the City areas. Our walk to The Tower Bridge and waterfront took us about 30 - 40 minutes and we felt safe the whole way.\n\nOverall, I can't say enough great things about the staff of this hotel. Thoughtful, accommodating and friendly. Sure, the hotel is basic. It's not 5 stars by any means. But our room was modern and clean (although the fridge did not work) and the bathroom was fine for a night. They also had a copy of each British newspaper in the lobby for free, which we didn't even see at some of the business class hotels I've stayed at in London.\n\nWould I stay in Whitechapel if I only had a day or two in London to go sightseeing? Nope. Would I stay at this hotel if I was on business in London and was not picky about being near nightlife/tourist stuff? Absolutely. Because of the staff! Thanks for an unexpectedly great stay!

This is a great hotel with fantastic staff. From arrival until departure I cannot fault anything over 2 nights stay. We booked 3 bedrooms and arrived way earlier than the check in time was. We were greeted and made feel so welcomed by Ruben who went out of his way to find at least a room to drop our bags in so we can hit the city without the extra weight. Thank you so much for that. We had breakfast included in our rate which was great with a wild range of selection of food every morning. Again the staff was excellent, very helpful both mornings. Sunday night we had dinner in the bar (11 of us). Needless to say it's not easy to serve a large group when you have other customers as well. However Vijaye and Pece done a great job serving us. We were a little bit difficult in terms of charging back the items to the rooms but Vijaye very patiently dealt with all the request. During our stay whenever we asked for anything on reception Ruben, Mirjam, Salaah, Richard provided excellent customer service. Thank you so much for having us. Every member of our group had a wonderful stay.

Stayed here for a couple of 1 night stays on business, it's convenient for the Docklands Light Railway at Shadwell and the rooms are a good size for London.\n\nNo issues with noise from outside, staff were friendly - only thing I would mention is the king-size beds are just twins pushed together, so beware of the gap in the middle between them.

As Holiday Inn's go this was a pleasant surprise. New and modern building with very spacious rooms way bigger than the London 'norm'. Breakfast was lovely and free good Wi-Fi. \n\nIf you need to be in the City this is good location as it's just a 15 minutes walk in the morning.

Room was clean & airy with an excellent bed and I was very comfortable throughout my stay. If I have to mention a minus it would be the annoying red message light which does not go off on the phone unless you unplug it from the wall, but a pillow over the thing at night son fixed that!. Hardly the end of the world.
I found all the staff to be extremely friendly who always wanted to assist (even poor Tasha mentioned in another review...). An example being that I invited a small group of my friends to join me one evening and despite them getting a bit noisy (in my opinion), I did not receive a single negative comment or disparaging look by them, real hospitality in my opinion.
Consequently I have rebooked this hotel for another 11 nights for the Para Olympics despite being given the offer of staying at the Holiday Inn at Stratford.

Excellent location and great access links to Docklands Light Railway. We used Shadwell only a few minutes walk. Very friendly and helpful reception, suggested a nice local restaurant when we asked.
Lovely spacious well designed room with roomy shower.
No problems with noise from the local area.
Generous breakfast but staff need further training. Lovely to be asked when you arrive for breakfast what you want to drink but it never arrives.

Stayed here for 2 nights using our priority club points and was treated to an upgrade to an executive room, large and comfortable. This is a new hotel and we were the first to use the room, big fluffy towels and robes.
The staff could not be more helpful and are a credit to the holiday inn image, we will definitely visit again.

The rooms were a great size and immaculately presented. The staff on the reception desk were welcoming and friendly and could not have been more polite and helpful. The hotel was easy to find, being a few minutes from Whitechapel Underground Station and only a short walk into the London financial district. We will definitely be booking this hotel again.
