My wife and I were treated to a Gin afternoon tea by one of our daughters. We were served by Jamie who was first class. On arrival we were seated with a view of Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament. Our first glass of gin was served followed by our sandwiches and cakes. Jamie then informed us our hour and half of free flowing gin had started. Jamie went around all tables and as your glass was nearly empty he came back with another. We had 6 gins each but you could have had more. I would highly recommend this treat/experience.

Not sure why there are comments about poor service, never had a problem over 7 nights. Check in staff super friendly and every interaction was pleasant and helpful, the one exception was the concierge. Concierge staff was helpful, but not as knowledgeable as expected. They didn’t know the tube stations in the immediate area and the various options to get to Heathrow. Merengue cookies and champagne available in lobby.

The rooms are spacious, decorated beautifully and comfortable. Cool art and details. Hair dryer, umbrella, luggage rack and make up mirror in closets. Great closet, with full length mirror. The bathroom is very large by city standards, great shower with good water pressure and heat. We had fantastic views of the London eye, spectacular at night. Rooms have heavy paned glass, noise from street was minimal. We had to walk a good distance from the elevator but not a problem.

Good location, but be ready to walk in the corridors, down the Long drive, over the bridge to Westminster tube or Waterloo tube the other way. Nice to have pool and gym privileges, even took an exercise class. All included. Would definitely recommend.

The base for 3 days in the capital, celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. A fantastic experience. Nothing was too much for the brilliant staff. We were treated to complimentary fizz upon arrival, before being shown to our room complete with balcony overlooking the Thames and London Eye. Our room was immaculate, very comfortable and very quiet. We even had a complimentary bottle of Champagne delivered to our room on the first night. All in all a truly memorable stay. Thank you to the brilliant staff at the County Hall Marriott.

I have been to London many times, and each Marriott has its own charm and personality to offer. This hotel is wonderful- the staff is welcoming from the front door and beyond. Friendly, helpful. Lovely rooms and charming hotel. Location cannot be beat. Rooms are clean and fresh- very updated. Whimsical decor.

This was the most perfect hotel we could have chosen for our trip to London! Every person there, from Rita at the Front Desk, to Joshua who greeted us daily with a smile and helpful suggestions, to all the men in Derbies who offered to get us a cab or help us with directions, it was great. Because it is centrally located, we did not lose any time riding the Tube just to get to the sites. For many of them, we walked across Westminster Bridge and began touring! Cannot say enough about how lovely the amenities were, and the drinks/snacks in the adjoining restaurant were excellent. Highly recommend this Marriott!

Our stay at this hotel was a complete fluke. Our family of three adults was booked in a two bedroom suite with breakfast at the Residence Inn Tower Bridge for one night in London before a visit to Paris. On our way to JFK, we received an email from the Residence Inn stating that it was overbooked, so they had arranged for us to stay at the more upscale London Marriott County Hall instead. The new room was complimentary and breakfast was still included. Also, we would get 50,000 Marriott points. My husband wrote back to confirm that the new room was comparable to the room at the Residence Inn i.e with two bedrooms and two baths, so that we could all have sufficient privacy. We were assured that it was. We arrived at the Marriott County Hall around 10 p.m. The young woman at the desk was very professional and efficient about checking us in and recommending nearby restaurants. However, when she said that we had only one room, we said, “But it’s a suite with two bedrooms, right?” In fact, no. It was a family room with two double beds in the same room and one bath. When we showed her the email we had received confirming a room similar to the one we had had at the Residence, she became less friendly and said that it was not a problem that she could solve. The Marriott County Hall has no two bedroom suites and there were no available rooms, so our party could not be broken up into two rooms. When we mentioned that our breakfast was included, she said that she would have to call over to the Residence Inn to confirm that, in spite of our showing her an email from the Residence Inn staff member that stated breakfast was included. Since we did not wish to change hotels late at night after a Long flight, we agreed to the family room. This did not work out well—-as we kind of knew it wouldn’t—-because 1. It is awkward for a 25 year old man to have to sleep in the same room as his mom and dad 2. My husband’s snoring kept my son up all night. The next day, my husband reached out to the person at the Residence Inn who had made the arrangements to let him know that all had not gone quite as planned. He sent a very gracious and responsible reply and awarded us an additional 40,000 points. He left us with a positive impression and we would be willing to book the Residence Inn again.
However, were you to book the Marriott London County Hall intentionally and only need a room for two adults, this is a great choice. The exterior of the building is just splendid and the location is perfect. You are a stone’s throw away from the London Eye, Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and a bunch of other important attractions. The hotel is beautifully decorated in the public spaces. guest rooms are neutral and tasteful. The beds were extremely comfortable. Our room was air conditioned, though it was somewhat anemic when compared to American air conditioning. The bathroom is large and well-appointed, with a walk-in shower, but no tub. Breakfast was a full English buffet with each dish served in a Le Crueset Dutch oven with a cardboard tag to identify it. The food was very good and the servers were friendly. All in all, this is a lovely property and it certainly was not’t anyone at the London Marriott’s intention to inconvenience us by putting us all in one room. I just felt they could have cared a little more once it happened.

Was pleasantly surprised by this Marriott. The building is beautiful and used to house the government. It overlooks Parliament and Big Ben/Queen Elizabeth’s Tower. Since Marriott’s can be highly variable, we weren’t sure what to expect but the renovations have been well done. Staff was quite nice. The hotel was very family friendly and the indoor pool is a hard find in a European city. Conveniently located near the Waterloo Underground stop and fun activities such as the London Eye. We wished the hotel had another restaurant. Our only caution is that the area is extremely crowded and has some cheesy children’s activities (London Dungeon and Shrek Adventure) that take away from the historic nature of the building, although notably some families might enjoy this.

We stayed for three days prior to an organized tour of the UK. Beautiful hotel with history, gracious and professional staff, and great view of the Thames and Parliament (although Big Ben was scaffolded for renovation.) The location is perfect, walk across the Westminster Bridge to the heart of London, the Tube, or take a boat up and down the Thames. The rooms are not as large as some other Marriotts, but most London hotel rooms are very small. The staff, Cassie at the front desk, Graham the doorman, and Carly, Martina, and Felicia in the Exec Lounge, were wonderful and helped make our stay memorable.

We recently spent 7 nights at County Hall. We found the staff to be friendly, well trained and capable. We especially enjoyed the night staff in the executive club. The format is a little different from other executive lounges where you get your own food and drinks. Here the staff brings your drinks and assembles your choice of three tapas. When they are busy, it can take a little time but that was not’t a problem for us. The staff helped with finding shopping areas or suggesting places to visit often showing us on the map how to get there. Our room was large and comfortable overlooking the Thames with Big Ben and Parliament across the river. Location to tube trains, bus was good. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The London Marriott Hotel County Hall is a beautiful, high-end Marriott property centrally located in London. This hotel has a perfect location-- it is next to the London Eye, and across the Thames from Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the tube. The hotel is also secluded from the street, as it is set far back on a private drive from the main street. The rooms and lobby are thoughtfully designed with spacious guestrooms, however, the lobby does not offer a lot of sitting area. The restaurant in the hotel and many guestrooms offer views of the River Thames, and some of the London Eye. The staff at this Marriott property were truly spectacular. In particular, Graham, the doorman, was friendly and greeted us by name every time we entered or exited the hotel, and engaged in light banter with us after he called a cab for us. He was also very knowledgeable of the London area and was able to give simple directions to different London airports and attractions.

We haven’t stayed here for a few years and therefore had not experienced the renovated rooms. I have always liked this hotel and would recommend it to others. Staff are great, breakfast is great. If I had anything negative to say, the table service in the bar in the evening could be quicker.

How much do I love the County Hall... let me count the ways! London has many excellent hotels to choose from, but the County Hall is my hands down favourite. The secret is the staff. The front desk staff is courteous, professional and welcoming. The manager, Anna, is delightful. She treated us like a guests in her own home. The Club has wonderful drink and food choices. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. We requested and received room with a view of Big Ben and though the landmark is currently shrouded in scaffolding, it was still a joy to behold each morning. I especially appreciate that our other request, a bathtub, was honoured. Nothing says vacation like soaking in a hot tub with a glass of champagne.

We have stayed in several nice hotels in London and wanted to check this Marriott as well. It is centrally located and it looks good from outside. And it was close to our son’s graduation place. Huge crowds of tourists, however, wander around the hotel in high season. That of course has nothing to do with the hotel itself.

Our main complaint is deteriorated indoor climate. I found it difficult to breathe in our room on the fifth floor. We stayed for three nights, the second night was easier when we shut off the air-conditioning. But the last night it was already really warm outside so we had to turn the system on. Being an HVAC specialist myself I presume that the fan coil unit had not been cleaned lately. The moist and stuffy indoor climate was present only when the system had been running for a while. A fan coil system only recirculates the room air through a coil that tempers the air. Research shows that this kind of systems have to be cleaned regularly, otherwise they contain a lot of impurities.

The gym on the fifth floor is one of the largest hotel gyms I have seen. It definitely had also the worst indoor climate I have ever seen. It was too hot and the air felt very stuffy. Only the back room when the indoor spinning bikes were was tolerable as a window was open there. Of course one would want to have a functioning air conditioning system with proper filtering to take care of the indoor climate in an urban area where the outdoor air is so dirty. Now the temperature control in the gym was taken care by an open window.

800-900 pounds per night per room is a bit too high for this kind of quality where breathing is not made easy. The elevators need upgrade as well. As a last comment, with a lot of experience of five star hotels around the world, I must say that all of the staff does not appear to be well educated and experienced. You notice it from small things like how quickly the tables in the bar are cleaned, how quickly are welcomed to the restaurant or bar and attentive the staff is if you for example want to walk past them, they do not necessarily notice you. The turnaround of the staff is probably high.

The room had a Long black hair under the pillow and none of us has any black hair so it was a little unsettling and set things off on a negative note. After disinfecting like crazy, we attempted to be positive.

In general and overlooking the repulsive hair, this hotel was a pleasant surprise. We initially booked at another Marriott in London which was surprisingly unclean, so we were pleased to have the ability to switch to this location. We aren’t picky but we are always willing to pay more for a clean, nice hotel in which we feel comfortable.

The location is second to none; right in a prime area and we were able to walk to many key places. The bellman, upon our arrival after a Long and tiresome journey, was fantastic: friendly and helpful. The first room we arrived to (our party required two) was very clean - once we finally arrived to it! The walk to our room was lengthy, which was a challenge since we had one individual with a disability in our group - not to mention young children who were very tired as well.

That aside, we were pleased that there was bottled water available in the room. The rooms and bathroom are both large. I had read on the website that microwaves were in the room but there are not microwaves, nor are there legitimate bar mini fridges which would be ideal. However, the view was spectacular and the staff were competent.

We ordered room service on several occasions and it was lacklustre. The food was bland. Typically we receive glasses of ice water when we order room service - especially at high end establishments - however that was not the case here. They asked how many people were dining but I’m not sure why since we didn’t receive any water whatsoever.

The third time we ordered room service we requested 2 glasses of ice water. We were brought a bucket of ice... no glasses. Very odd.

.

Spent three nights here in July and was quite favorably surprised. The location is super convenient to Westminster and south Bank. I guess given that, I didn't really expect the level of service we got, but everyone was amazingly helpful in a we-go-out-of-our-way-to-help-you sort of way. Romain at the front desk sent hand written directions to an out-of-the-way bar he thought we'd enjoy up to our room, for example. Another pleasant surprise was the gym and pool. Maybe the best hotel gym I've ever used and the pool was amazing if you're a swimmer. X10 because it's in central London and there's never a pool in central London. You never know how tiny your room will be when visiting Europe, so we felt lucky to have such spacious rooms in the heart of London. The location for tourists is perfect. You're within walking distance of most tourist attractions such as the London Eye, Parliament, Thames River, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, etc. The building that the hotel is in is beautiful. The rooms are appointed to Marriott standards and have ample space. They have restaurants in house including one where you can get a traditional Afternoon Tea service. The pick up for the buses including the hop on/hop off tour bus, is directly in front of the hotel. There are also a dozen or so various restaurants in very close walking distance (within 1/4 mile) I will plan on staying here for future trips.

Rooms are nice and clean, and larger than most ordinary rooms. Check-in was a breeze. Hotel is located next to London Eye, across the River Thames from the heart of the city, and most of the tourist attractions. There was actually very little to do, see or eat in the vicinity of the hotel, other than the London Eye. If you want some nightlife, I recommend staying in Piccadilly or Mayfair areas.

I'm a Lifetime Platinum Elite, and was travelling with my wife and son using rewards. Upon check-in we were told that only two of us could visit the executive lounge. However, if we wanted to add a third, it would be 80 pounds per day extra. Really! ??! We did visit the lounge one morning to refill our water bottles, and were met by a very unfriendly/stuffy staff member who reminded us very loudly that only two persons are to be admitted, and reminding us again that we could pay the additional 80 pounds for that privilege. I am sorry, but there is no way that lounge is worth 80 pounds per day. We did look at the menu, and some of the food being served. For breakfast, a bowl of soupy scrambled eggs, some sausages, and fruit are available. For happy hour, the menu shows small bites for free, but a costly menu if you want more. Not worth it.

Needless to say, we took our drink and food money elsewhere. Due to our experience with the lounge, we have fortunately warned away a couple of friends and their families from staying here this summer and fall because of this hotel's lounge policy.

Stayed at the Marriott County Hall for a few days. There is nothing to fault about this hotel; everything was smooth and without incident. It is very well kept (inside and out), rooms are clean and feels comfortable figuratively and literally.

location: That is subjective due to the nature of your visit and expectations. That said, if one simply wants to visit London and be a tourist, then this is a great and highly recommended location. Minutes away from Big Ben and House of Commons, it is well situated as a launch point for either walking around or other means of transportation. The London Eye is just yards away, literally.

Attractions: Like what was stated above, it all depends on what one expects to visit. Not being an expert on London, I’m inclined to say that if shopping, restaurants and big attraction spots are your thing (Harrods, Buckingham Palace, night life…), unless you’re comfortable walking several miles you’ll end up in a taxi or other mode of public transportation to get to your destination. Most attractions (Kensington, Buckingham…) are 15-ish minutes away by car. Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and the like are further, only to be aggravated by traffic which can be quite bad. I suggest you spend a few minutes drafting a list of what you want to see, and pick a hotel nearby which could save you money in the Long run by minimizing transportation. But I though the location was great.

Rooms: Nothing to fault. Our room faced the Thames and Big Ben (worth the up-charge), were clean and well lit.

Overall great friendly service and location. Highly recommended.

Wonderful views over the Thames and across to the Houses of Parliament, centrally located. The layout is slightly odd, but given it is the old GlC building it was never designed as a hotel. This isn't nessisarily a bad thing, and gives the hotel a quirky charm. The restaurant and bar are superb, and I often visit these when I am not a resident.

The Marriott Hotel County Hall is an iconic London hotel rich in history, steeped in tradition and beautifully decorated. Located adjacent to the London Eye and Westminster Bridge, on the Southbank of the Thames River, the hotel has fantastic views of several London landmarks, including Big Ben, Parliament and the London Eye. It is within walking distance of most of the important London attractions, including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the theatre district, Parliament and Westminster Abby. You would be hard pressed to find a hotel better suited for discovering London.

Unlike many other European hotels, the rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained. The hotel lobby and common areas are charmingly decorated and inviting. The ambiance makes the Marriott Hotel County Hall a welcome oasis of solitude in the hustle and bustle of a busy London.

If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Club member, the Concierge Club is a great place to grab a drink, a quick bite to eat and meet other guests. The food offered is very good and the serve staff excellent. We ate one night at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar. I will provide a separate review for the restaurant, but let me say here that the food was outstanding and the service superb.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Marriott Hotel County Hall is the staff. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by every employee you pass. Having stayed at dozens of hotels throughout the world, I have to admit that the professionalism, courtesy and competence displayed by the Marriott Hotel County Hall staff was unsurpassed. This top to bottom focus on employee performance and customer service can only be a reflection of hotel management priorities, and clearly the gm and management of the Marriott Hotel County Hall have worked hard to create an environment reflected in only the best run hotels.

A special shout out to guest Experience Executive Manuel Fernandez Morales who worked hard throughout our stay to ensure our every need was met. Also to the hotel concierge staff who helped set up transportation, show and tour tickets. They also gave great advice on local activities and eateries.

The Marriott Hotel County Hall is a superb hotel well worthy of a place at the top of your list of places to stay in London. My only regret in staying there was that my stay couldn’t be Longer.

Dear weipingx2017

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel County Hall.

We were devastated to learn of the challenges you faced with your television and the response you received. We would like to take the time to investigate this accordingly. Please may I kindly ask for you to send to me your name and stay dates so I may look into this for you?

With best wishes,

Jemma Wade
jemma. Wade@Marriott.com.

Arrived tues 14/05 great welcome back from reception really enjoyed dinner in Hilary's and super fresh breakfast the following morning Great room overlooking the Thames and really clean Only let down was this hotel appears to have got rid of all of the concierge as we tried twice on the morning of wed 15/05 to get some information 30 minutes apart but nobody ever seems to be available, apart from that great stay.

I got an amazing room with a Thames view. Very comfortable king size bed and space full luxury bathroom. Loved the indoor pool and I have to say I will cherish this memory forever. The entrance is so theatrical and magic. I felt like a princess.

This hotel was one of the best Marriott's in the world! The service is excellent, the staff members are delightful and the location is perfect for business & pleasure. My only issue was with the food at the hotel restaurant, particularly breakfast. The pancakes, waffles and selection of danishes were not near the quality you’d expect from an English hotel of this caliber. Room service menu was great and the club were excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel for any reason of travel.

This hotel really impressed me. Very good check in staff, beautiful large rooms at London standard. The hotel is nicely situated close to the Big Ben and Westminster Abby.

I will be staying here on my future business trips.
