One of the few London 5 star hotels located
outside of the heart of London, the Hempel Hotel Londonwas an ultra chic luxury boutique
style hotel with a unique environment created by British designer, Anouska
Hempel. The hotel was constructed from a former row of Georgian terraced houses
with a coming together of Eastern and Western cultures reflected in the
minimalist surroundings. Design ideas that set this hotel apart include a bed
inside a cage suspended over the lounge of a suite and an atrium hovering over a
bed. The hotel lobby featured an atrium, Portland
stone floor and sunken seating areas with Indonesian ox cart tables, warmly
offset by two glowing fireplaces.
Rooms: Each of the bedrooms was individually designed
with a Zen minimalistic style and where the amenities included extras such as bathrobes, slippers and candles.
Facilities included en-suite bathroom (Sunken, Stone Or free-standing Baths),
air-conditioning, CD
Player, Hair dryer, minibar, flat screen TV with Pay movies, In room safe, Daily turn
down service and free WIFI internet access.
Room service was available 24 hours a
day and there was a daily turndown service. A DVD player and Video player are also available.
Lift to all floors.
Room configurations
included Superior (twin, single and double) rooms, Deluxe rooms, Junior suites
and Superior Suites that come with a seating area. Rooms include Queen, king and
four poster beds.
The hotel Suites were all individually designed in keeping with
the bedrooms.
The Hempel hotel was fully serviced and had self contained Apartments. The
Deluxe Apartments had views over the Hempel Garden Square. They had a single
bedroom along with a kitchenette, guest and personal bathroom and video entry.
Dining Options:
No. 35 Restaurant: This was a new addition to the hotel in 2006. Ultra chic
setting with nouveau cuisine. Served a seasonal menu consisting of the best of
British and European ingredients and locally sourced.
Open: 07.00 till 10.00 (weekends till 11.30), 19.00 till 22.00 (closed Sunday)
No. 31 Lounge Bar at The Hempel: Relax and unwind in a serene minimalist décor
offset warmly by shimmering candlelight and a glowing fireplace. Diverse menu of
light dishes along with exotic cocktails. Vibrant, casual and cool.
More: For the business traveller the Hempel hotel had
meeting facilities to cater for anything from 2 to 200 guests. Meeting room
features included natural light, high ceilings and WIFI internet connectivity.
Other notable hotel features include a private Zen garden (large Ornamental
Garden In Front Of The Hotel) and Hempel Garden Square. The hotel lobby had a
Portland stone floor, fireplace and a television for guest use. The reception was
manned 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
