The Motel One London Tower Hill is, as the name suggests, close to Tower Hill, Aldgate and The City of London (on its south eastern edge). This is the area around the business direct of London also known as The Square Mile. Some 2.5 miles (4.0 km) from the main tourist areas around Piccadilly Circus the Aldgate and Tower Hill has much to offer. Not least is its proximity to the River Thames which is only 650 yards (594 metres) from the Motel One. The River is a working river with boats, ships and barges constantly passing. The River also has a River Bus service with stops along the banks from where you can hop onto a River Bus and get off at any of the many stops along the way. It is also home to HMS Belfast, the floating war Museum, which is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from the hotel on the south side of the River. The area around the hotel is quite diverse with businesses, local shops and stores mixed with a residential community as you move out of the City of London. Within half a mile is (0.8 km) is the famous Brick Lane with its range of Asian restaurants and shops and its famous Bagel cafes. You also have several major visitor attractions close by. Almost on your doorstep is the Tower of London, a real medieval castle complete with moat just 369 yards (337 metres) to the south of the hotel. 440 yards (402 metres) in the opposite direction is Petticoat Lane Market, 400 years old and still going strong, well known for its fashion and clothes stools. St Katherine Docks is 0.4 miles (0.6 km) away and is a yacht harbour with a string of cafes and bars along the waterfront. The London Dungeon is a hugely popular waxworks museum of some of the more gory sides of Londons history and is 0.6 miles (1.0 km) away on the south side of the river. For more fashionable nightclubs try Hoxton and Shoreditch which are within a 15 minute bus journey of the hotel. The nearest station is Aldgate on the London underground network and at just 158 yards (144 metres) from the hotel it is within a 3 minute walk.
