History:
The hotel occupies a building known as Northumberland House, which was refurbished and restored for its use as a hotel which opened on 6th December 2006. Previously it has been used as offices for the MOD (ministry of Defence) since World War II. Before the MOd took it over it was the 500 bedroomed Victoria Hotel which opened in 1897. The Grand Hotel doesn't actually occupy the whole of the house, just a section of it.However it is a totally different building than the Northumberland House which stood in this road between 1605 and its demolition in 1874.
Note: The Grand shares the same building and address as the Club Quarters Trafalgar Square but the two are separate entities and the rooms for each are allocated separately.
