The Novotel London West is situated on the Hammersmith Gyratory system, one of the major road junctions in London. This gives access to the A4 dual carriageway into and out of London, and also to South London by the almost adjacent Hammersmith Bridge. 11 miles and 15 minutes on a clear run by taxi from Heathrow Airport and walking distance to the Olympia Exhibition centre (0.5 miles). West London's other major exhibition centre of Earls Court is just one mile away. This location is on the edge of West London with good transport links by bus, road and train into central London. Close by are many shops and cafes with the popular shopping areas of Kensington (0.5 miles), King Street Hammersmith/Chiswick High Road (0.6 miles) close by. There's actually a shopping centre called the Broadway centre almost adjacent to the hotel that's located within the Hammersmith Gyratory system. These areas also make for a good choice of venues for nightlife with a good selection of restaurants and pubs. Just over 200 yards from the hotel is the unmissable London Ark, a 1990's office block created to look like the famous biblical ark. The building is controversial being an eye sire to many and a work of art to others. It also happens to make a great landmark by which to pin point the hotel. Comment: In October 2006 the hotel became the first in the UK to be given the ISO14001 environmental accreditation. This was achieved by drawing up a long term plan to reduce the amount of waste it produces and to increase the amount of recycling it carries out.
