History: Built in 1955 on a former bombsite the Westbury was at the time the first new hotel in London for 20 years and strikingly constructed from White Portland stone. Privately owned since being sold in may 1999. Major refurbishment in 2007 carried out under supervision of designer Alexander Kravetz.
Re-opened in Autumn 2007 after a £20 million pound refurbishment which raised the hotels rating from the previous AA 4 star to the current 5 star.
On 17th April 2010 broke the record for the most expensive bottle of wine ever sold at a UK bar. A Russian billionaire bought a Methuselah (equal to 8 regular bottles) of 1996 Rosé Gold for £35,000.
