Hotel in Detail:The Wellesley Hotel is one of the newest luxury hotels in London having opened in 2012. The hotels design marries contemporary and classic styles with a mix of the buildings 1920's art deco past and a touch of modern glamour. The result is a glossy and extravagant look and feel. The Wellesley describes itself as a grand boutique hotel, who would possibly guess that the buidling was actually once the entrance to Hyde Park Corner tube till it was replaced with a newer entrance in the 1930s. The hotel welcomes you now with impressive bronze doors and a marble lobby with crystal chandeliers. Bespoke furniture is the order of the day and the concierge desk is draped in studded ostrich leather. All those disparate elements combine to create a look that is glossy, extravagant and immaculate
Bedrooms have a decadent Art Deco style with rich and sumptuous furnishings, bespoke artwork and feature a media console. Some bedrooms come with crescent-shaped couches and lacquered coffee tables. Curtains can be operated electronically while a tablet (unlimited data) with local information is placed in each bedroom and can be used to directly contact the concierge team. Some rooms have a separate lounge and full views over Hyde Park.
The bathrooms are finished with 1920's Italian marble, vintage vogue photographs, TV in the wall, have underfloor heating and are stocked with free toiletries by Hermes. You also are supplied with bathrobes and slippers.

The Crystal bar features live jazz music. With a lavish decor and authentic 1920s furniture and decorative features, showcases a wall of the finest cocktails, whiskies and Cognacs. A touch of 1920s decadence and glamour. Glass displays showcase the range of whisky, cognac and Armagnac available.
Afternoon Tea: Served daily from 14.00, and served in Jazz Lounge. Enjoy the sounds of a live piano, performed daily.
The Jazz Lounge: Pays homage to the likes of Cleo Laine, Amy Winehouse, George Melly and Mica Paris whop used to perform at this spot when the hotel was the Pizza on the Park. Enjoy evening live music and fine dining in intimate surroundings. Live jazz performances take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 20.30 till 23.00. Also serves the best of Italian cuisine to enjoy along with the music.
The private heated Cigar Terrace includes the UK's largest bespoke humidor (when opened in 2012). Features one of the world's largest collections of cigars sold on a stick-by-stick basis.
