Maybe a slightly confusing name, The Z Hotel City, since the hotel sits on the eastern edge of the West End and main tourist area for London and the very western edge of the City of London. The local area is actually known as Temple and the hotel backs onto Temple Church (built by the Knights Templar). The City of London (called The City or The Square Mile) is the main business district and not really in central London. This is certainly a great location for anyone wanting access to both areas of London, West End and City of London. The benefit to this location is that it is a relatively quiet part of central London on weekends but the main areas are still within walking distance. The Z Hotel City sits on Fleet Street and in years gone by this was once known as the heartland for the main newspapers who all had their main offices here, even today the name Fleet Street is synonymous with mainstream media. Being at the end of The Strand and just 400 yards (365 metres) from Lincolns Inn Fields the area is also a hot bed for legal firms and the Royal Courts of Justice is only 228 yards (208 metres) from the hotel. No shortage of amenities in the direct surrounding areas with loads of options for eating and drinking out. Shopping is plentiful and you are on the edge of theatreland with more than a dozen theatres with 0.5 miles (0.8 km).
Temple Station, City Thameslink Station and Chancery Lane station are all within 528 yards. (482 metres) If you need a bus there is a bus stop directly outside the hotel. If you need access to south London then Blackfriars Bridge and Waterloo Bridge are within 0.5 miles (0.8 km). Also within 0.5 miles (0.8 km) is Covent Garden home to the Opera House and Covent Garden Piazza. Local places of interest are numerous and some of the closest include St Clement Danes Church 0.19 miles (built by St Sir Christopher Wren and the central Church for the RAF), Courtauld Institute Gallery 0.36 miles (0.6 km), Sir John Soames Museum 0.36 miles (0.6 km), The South Bank 0.4 miles (0.6 km), St Pauls Cathedral 0.4 miles (0.6 km), National Theatre 0.5 miles (0.8 km) and the London Transport Museum 0.5 miles (0.8 km).
