Hotel in Detail:The DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel has a spectacular waterfront setting with stunning views over London's docklands. Guests receive a warm welcome in the form of free warm chocolate chip cookies to set the mood of the hotel. For business guests there are two meeting rooms as well as fax and copy facilities.
Every bedroom is air-conditioned with a Nespresso coffee machine and 300 thread count sheets. The standard rooms all come with free WiFi, flat screen TV, safe, wake-up calls, desk, phone with voicemail, clock with aux out, ironing facilities and tea/coffee maker. All rooms are en-suite and have a power shower, slippers, bathrobe, hairdryer and branded toiletries.

DoubleTree Restaurant: 112 seat capacity and designed by ward winning interior architects, DesignLSM. Set in a Grand Cafe style, wall to ceiling windows span one side of the restaurant framing fantastic views over royal Victoria dock and in the summer months you can choose to eat Al Fresco. Open all day for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The menu is an eclectic range of modern British and European influenced dishes. The restaurant has a large selection of wines.

Doubletree by Hilton London Excel is located close to both the Excel Centre and London City Airport, and within a few minutes by road from the Docklands/Canary Wharf area. The hotel is about a 300 yard walk from the East entrance of the Excel exhibition centre. This area gives access to east London as well as into the City of London itself via the dual carriageway (A13) that runs right through the docklands towards Tower Bridge. Also convenient for the O2 arena/Millennium Dome which is 1.5 miles away on the southern side of the River Thames (accessed via DLR and canning Town). Its also a similar distance to Green Street and its Asian shops to the south and the massive (60 acres) Gallions Reach shopping centre to the east. The main central tourist areas are some 7 mile to the west (around 40 minutes by public transport).

Interestingly when the hotel first opened it was given the name Ramada Docklands/Excel. Later the Excel part was dropped. This is curious because Excel was a more accurate location as the Docklands is really about a mile away and is the area shown on map as the Isle of Dogs.
