Area: The local area surrounding
the
Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel is known as Bayswater and the stand
out plus of this location is its just 100 yards from the wonderful
Hyde Park. Offering 350
acres of wide open spaces, play areas, numerous impressive statues, a
central lake with boat hire, landscaped themed garden areas and several
places to eat and snack. The park adjoins Kensington Gardens and this is
where the Princess Diana memorial is located. At the south west corner of
Kensington Gardens is Kensington Palace which is where Diana lived for her
Royal years. The area has a lot more going for it than just the park though
with a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants especially along
Queensway and further along at Notting Hill. Many places will consider this
location as being with central London though in truth its just on the
border. This means accommodation is cheaper than the most central areas
while having great transport links to all of London. Paddington Station is
only half a mile away and is the start/end point for the
Heathrow Express service to
Heathrow Airport.
Always worth a visit is Portobello Road Market which specialises in antiques
and is half a mile from Grand Royale Hyde Park. There are ten tube stations
within 1 mile and bus routes run along Bayswater Road a minutes walk from
the hotel. All in all this area is very popular with tourists looking to be
close to the heart of London but with generally lower rates and good
amenities locally.
